These terms are written in plain English. We want you to actually read them.

What ProxyBox Is

ProxyBox is a hardware device that turns your home internet connection into a private residential proxy and VPN server. You plug it into your router, set it up through our app, and use your own IP address as a proxy from anywhere in the world. We also provide a web dashboard and mobile app to manage your device, monitor bandwidth, and configure VPN connections.

Plans are per device. Each ProxyBox you own is on its own plan: Free, Premium Monthly ($10/month), or Premium Lifetime ($149 one-time). Premium unlocks WireGuard VPN, analytics, and priority bandwidth. The hardware comes in two models: the standard ProxyBox, and ProxyBox Pro (+$40 one-time), which has built-in Ethernet for a wired uplink, freeing its Wi-Fi to host a guest network and anchor a second box. One optional add-on is available: the Roam Wi-Fi adapter (+$20 one-time), a small USB adapter that lets any ProxyBox get online through hotel, office, or other captive-portal Wi-Fi and adds a guest network at home.

Some boxes also offer Guest Wi-Fi (your box hosts a separate guest network that goes out through your box), roaming (a box away from home routes its connected devices through a chosen anchor box so they go out the anchor's home IP), and device sharing (the owner can invite members, who get their own proxy and VPN credentials on that box). These features carry extra responsibilities, which are covered below.

The Two-Tier Model

ProxyBox offers two tiers of service:

  • Free Tier: You get full use of your ProxyBox as a residential proxy and single VPN connection. In exchange, your device shares a small portion of its idle bandwidth with the ProxyBox network. This shared bandwidth is used by premium users and is how we keep the free tier free. Your device never shares bandwidth while you're actively using it.
  • Premium Tier: You get WireGuard VPN access, priority relays, API access, real-time health alerts, and priority support. Premium is available at $10/month, or $149 one-time (Lifetime).

Acceptable Use

You can use ProxyBox for any lawful purpose. That includes web scraping, ad verification, social media management, SEO research, accessing region-locked content, remote work, privacy protection, and anything else that doesn't break the law.

You may not use ProxyBox to:

  • Engage in any illegal activity, including fraud, hacking, or distributing malware
  • Send spam, phishing emails, or unsolicited bulk messages
  • Attack, disrupt, or attempt to compromise other networks or services, including denial-of-service (DoS or DDoS) attacks
  • Run command-and-control infrastructure, botnets, or any system for operating malware
  • Gain or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account, system, network, or data, or circumvent any security or authentication measure
  • Perform credential stuffing, account takeover, password spraying, or large-scale brute-force attempts
  • Distribute child sexual abuse material (we report this to authorities)
  • Violate the intellectual property rights of others
  • Violate the terms of service, acceptable-use policies, or technical access controls of any site or service you reach through ProxyBox
  • Use ProxyBox in any country, or for any party or purpose, that is subject to U.S. sanctions or export controls (including OFAC-restricted persons, regions, or transactions)
  • Circumvent the bandwidth-sharing mechanism on the free tier
  • Resell, sublicense, or otherwise provide proxy or VPN access to third parties without our written authorization

You are responsible for all traffic. You are solely responsible for everything that passes through your ProxyBox and for all use of your account, whether by you or by anyone you allow. This includes guests on your Guest Wi-Fi, members you invite through device sharing, and any device that connects through a roaming network you set up or anchor. You agree to make sure everyone you give access to follows these terms, and you accept full responsibility if they do not.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that we reasonably believe are being used for abuse. We don't monitor your traffic content, but we do monitor for abuse patterns and we may act on reports, billing fraud signals, or legal process.

Sharing, Guest Wi-Fi, and Roaming

ProxyBox includes features that let other people send traffic through a box. With these features comes a simple rule: traffic that goes out a box is treated as coming from the person who owns that box.

  • Device sharing: When you invite members to your box, they get their own proxy and VPN credentials, but their traffic still egresses your home IP. You remain responsible for their activity on your box. You can remove a member at any time.
  • Guest Wi-Fi: When you turn on Guest Wi-Fi, anyone you give the password to sends their traffic out through your box and your home IP. You are responsible for who you let on and what they do.
  • Roaming: When a roaming box (for example, a ProxyBox getting online through outside Wi-Fi with the Roam Wi-Fi adapter) is pointed at an anchor box, every device on the roaming network egresses the anchor's home IP. If you own an anchor box, you accept that traffic from connected roaming devices will appear to come from your connection, and you are responsible for it. If you set up a roaming box, you are responsible for the devices you connect to it.

Because this traffic appears to come from a home IP, misuse can affect the reputation of that IP and of the people behind it. Only share access with people you trust, and only point a roaming box at an anchor you are authorized to use.

Hardware Ownership and Warranty

When you purchase a ProxyBox device, you own it. It's your hardware. You can open it, modify it, or use it as a doorstop if you want (though we'd prefer you didn't).

Every ProxyBox device comes with a 1-year limited hardware warranty from the date of purchase. This covers manufacturing defects and hardware failures under normal use. It does not cover physical damage, water damage, or modifications you've made to the device.

If your device has a hardware issue during the warranty period, contact us at support@proxybox.us and we'll send you a replacement.

Remote Support Access

Remote support comes built in with every ProxyBox. By activating or using a ProxyBox device, you authorize ProxyBox, Inc. and its authorized service providers to remotely access the device over a secure, encrypted connection so we can provide support, run diagnostics, perform maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and deliver software and firmware updates that keep your device working and secure.

This access is initiated only as needed, typically to resolve a problem, verify a fix, or apply an update. We do not use it to read your traffic content. Each remote access session is logged on our systems with a timestamp so there is a clear record of when access took place.

Billing and Subscriptions

Plans are per device. The Free plan requires no payment. Premium Monthly is a recurring subscription billed each month through Stripe and renews automatically unless you cancel. Premium Lifetime is a single $149 charge for that device with no recurring billing. Hardware and hardware add-ons (the ProxyBox Pro upgrade, +$40, and the Roam Wi-Fi adapter, +$20) are one-time charges collected when you order. Stripe processes all payments; we store your Stripe customer record, subscription status, and invoices, but we never store your card number.

Prices may change, but we'll give you at least 30 days' notice before any price increase takes effect on your account. A change in price does not affect a Premium Lifetime device you have already paid for. If you don't agree with a price change, you can cancel before the next billing cycle.

Each plan applies to a single device. If you own more than one ProxyBox, each one is billed and managed on its own.

The hardware ships with your plan. The monthly plan bundles the device at a subsidized price with a six-month hardware-recovery term; the exact terms (including the one-time $49 fee if you cancel early) are shown at checkout and stated in the Refunds and Cancellation section below.

Refunds and Cancellation

Hardware sales are final. ProxyBox does not offer a money-back guarantee on the device. All hardware purchases are final and non-refundable. If your device arrives damaged or defective, see the warranty section above, or email support@proxybox.us.

You can cancel your premium subscription at any time. Your premium features will remain active until the end of your current billing period. We don't do partial refunds on subscriptions.

The monthly plan ships you a ProxyBox at a subsidized price, on the expectation that your first six months of service cover the hardware. If you cancel the monthly plan within its first six months, a one-time $49 hardware-recovery fee applies on your final billing cycle. This is the cost of the device, not a penalty. After six months, and on the lifetime plan, you can cancel any time with no fee. This fee is shown to you at checkout before you pay.

The hardware-recovery fee is a flat one-time $49, applies only to the monthly plan cancelled within its first six months, and is disclosed at checkout. It reflects the subsidized cost of the device, not a penalty.

Your Privacy

We take privacy seriously. It's the whole point of this product. Please read our Privacy Policy for the full details on what we collect, what we don't, and how we handle your data.

Limitation of Liability

ProxyBox provides a tool. We do our best to make it reliable, fast, and secure, but we can't guarantee 100% uptime or perfect performance. Internet connections have variables we don't control.

The service and the hardware are provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any particular IP address will remain available, unblocked, or accepted by any third party. This does not limit the separate hardware warranty described above.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ProxyBox and its team are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or business opportunities, arising from your use of the service.

We are not responsible for how you use ProxyBox. We are not liable for the traffic you send through your box or for the activity of anyone you allow to use it, including guests, shared members, and roaming clients. You use the service at your own risk and for your own account.

Our total liability to you for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you've paid us for the affected device in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless ProxyBox, Inc., its team, and its service providers from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) that arise out of or relate to your use of the service, the traffic sent through your device, the activity of anyone you allow to use your device (including guests, shared members, and roaming clients), or your violation of these terms or of any law or third-party right.

Legal Requests and Cooperation

We may suspend access, preserve account records, and respond to valid legal process such as subpoenas, court orders, and law-enforcement requests. We keep no logs of the content or destination of your proxy or VPN traffic, so we cannot produce what we do not have. We can, however, act on the account, billing, and device information described in our Privacy Policy, and we will report child sexual abuse material to the authorities.

Service Availability

We aim for high availability but can't promise the service will never go down. We may occasionally need to perform maintenance, push firmware updates, or address security issues. We'll try to give advance notice when possible, but emergency maintenance may happen without warning.

Termination

You can close your account at any time from your dashboard or by emailing us. We'll delete your account data within 30 days of closure, unless we're legally required to retain it.

We can suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, engage in abusive behavior, or fail to pay. If we terminate your account for cause, you're not entitled to a refund. If we terminate for any other reason, we'll refund any prepaid subscription fees on a prorated basis.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll notify you by email and post a notice on our website at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of ProxyBox after the changes take effect means you accept the new terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, where ProxyBox, Inc. is incorporated, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and we both agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. Nothing in this section removes any non-waivable consumer protection that the law of your home jurisdiction gives you.
