A residential proxy routes your internet traffic through a real home IP address assigned by an ISP, as opposed to a datacenter IP. Websites trust residential IPs far more than datacenter IPs because they look like normal home users. ProxyBox makes this possible by turning your actual home internet into a proxy you can access from anywhere.
ProxyBox is a small hardware device you connect to your home router. It creates a secure WireGuard tunnel to our relay infrastructure, which allows you to route traffic through your home IP from anywhere. You set it up right in your browser (no app to install), and manage everything from the web dashboard. All traffic is encrypted end-to-end.
Absolutely. You are routing traffic through your own home IP address, which you are fully authorized to use. ProxyBox is essentially a personal VPN and proxy server that you own and control. It is no different from running a VPN server on your home network, just much easier to set up.
No. A TOR exit node carries traffic from complete strangers on the public TOR network, which is what makes exit-node operators nervous. ProxyBox only carries your traffic, from accounts only you have credentials to. Nobody else can route through your home IP. You are your only user.
Your ISP sees an encrypted WireGuard tunnel from your ProxyBox to our relay, plus your normal outbound browsing. With DNS-over-HTTPS turned on (one tap in the app), DNS lookups are encrypted too. The ISP cannot see which sites you visit, which accounts you log into, or what you send. What they do see is a home device sending encrypted traffic, same as any VPN user.

Yes. ProxyBox provides a standard HTTP proxy that works with any tool or library that supports proxies: Python requests, Puppeteer, Playwright, curl, browser extensions, and more. Since you are using a real residential IP, you will see far fewer blocks and CAPTCHAs than with datacenter proxies.
If your home internet drops, any remote session through your ProxyBox will disconnect. That is true of any residential proxy or home-VPN setup. When service comes back, the ProxyBox automatically re-establishes its tunnel within seconds and your apps can reconnect. It does not have cellular backup and is not designed for enterprise always-on uptime. For critical automation, we recommend pairing with a datacenter proxy for failover on the very small percentage of requests that cannot wait.

ProxyBox runs on low-power Raspberry Pi hardware with Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth depending on model. It draws only a few watts, runs silently with no fan, and is small enough to tuck behind your router. The firmware is a hardened Linux build optimized for proxy and VPN workloads.
Yes, from anywhere. Your ProxyBox lives at home, and your phone or laptop tunnels back to it over WireGuard, so you browse on your own home IP even on hotel, office, or airport Wi-Fi. Taking the box itself somewhere else to route other devices through a captive-portal network is part of our in-development Roam feature, not a current guarantee.
